The Physician Assistant (PA) works under the supervision of the Chairman of the Emergency Department or designee and practices in accordance with the written protocols described in the Medical Staff Privileges for Physician Assistants in Emergency Medicine The PA is responsible for the performance of and subsequent documentation of histories and physical examinations, progress notes and consultation notes. Evaluates and provides diagnosis and treatment to patients presenting to the ED by taking history and performing physical examinations Orders and interprets diagnostic radiology and laboratory studies, including EKGs Provides therapeutic interventions including evaluating of wounds and lacerations and suturing of such injuries, reduction and splinting of fractures and dislocations
