Performs a variety of patient care treatments, procedures, and services necessary in caring for patients. The theory and performance of any of these activities must have been previously covered in clinical training and demonstrated/evaluated by a RN. It is the responsibility of the nurse extern to indicate which procedures he/she is not yet competent to perform. A checklist will be given at the time of orientation. One year of clinical training in an accredited nursing program. Must have completed first two semesters of clinicals Must be able to follow written and/or verbal instructions. Current B.C.L.S. certification; ACLS within one year of hire date. Knowledge of routine patient care functions such as obtaining vital signs and basic assessment skills. Must attend a 4-hour session for Customer Service Standards and follow the standards set by the Standards of Excellence Team Committee. Current annual requirements CPI, N-95, PPD, net learning, triage and documentation classes. Attend nursing orientation within six months of hire date.
